چکیده

METHODS: Retrospective case-control study. A total of 60 patients were studied, 30 who had undergone cataract surgery and implantation of an AcrySof® hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens (IOL) 10 years or more prior to the study, and 30 who had undergone the surgery just 1 month prior to the study. The groups were compared in terms of bestcorrected visual acuity, contrast sensitivity and densitometry. The level of light scattering was measured at 0° and 90° on both sides of the lens, and in the middle regions of the optic.

Posterior capsular opacification and intraocular lens surface micro-roughness characteristics: an atomic force microscopy study.

OBJECTIVE Surface roughness parameters of various intraocular lenses (IOLs) biomaterials using atomic force microscopy (AFM) are compared. Variation, if any, in the micro-roughness properties of different IOLs made up of the same biomaterial is also explored. Retrospective analysis of posterior capsular opacification (PCO) incidence has been followed up for a period of four years post IOL impla...

Comparison of the long-term clinical results of hydrophilic and hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lenses.

This study was performed to compare the incidence of posterior capsular opacity (PCO) and refractive errors between hydrophilic (ACR6D, Corneal) and hydrophobic (MA60BM, AcrySof) acrylic intraocular lenses (IOLs) over a 3-year follow-up after phacoemulsification surgery. The patients with AcrySof implanted in one eye and Corneal in the other eye were categorized as Group 1 (n=28), while those w...

Comparison of the Retinal Straylight in Pseudophakic Eyes with PMMA, Hydrophobic Acrylic, and Hydrophilic Acrylic Spherical Intraocular Lens

Purpose. To investigate the intraocular straylight value after cataract surgery. Methods. In this study, 76 eyes from 62 patients were subdivided into three groups. A hydrophobic acrylic, a hydrophilic acrylic, and a PMMA IOL were respectively, implanted in 24 eyes, 28 eyes, and 24 eyes. Straylight was measured using C-Quant at 1 week and 1 month postoperatively in natural and dilated pupils. R...

A comparison of mesopic visual acuity and objective visual quality following cataract surgery with hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lenses

PURPOSE To evaluate mesopic visual acuity and visual quality as measured by objective scatter index (OSI) in pseudophakic eyes with long-term follow-up after implantation of hydrophobic acrylic lenses made from two different lens materials. SETTING This study was carried out in a private clinic. DESIGN This study was an observational cohort study. METHODS This pilot study included 181 eye...

Reversible opacification of hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lens- two cases report

BACKGROUND The opacification of the intraocular lens (IOL) can cause significant visual deterioration. It is known that opacity of hydrophobic acrylic IOLs is rare. We report 2 cases of reversible optic opacification of hydrophobic acrylic intraocular lenses (Tecnis ZCB00, Abbott), observed within 2 months after uneventful cataract surgery. CASE PRESENTATION Case 1: Uneventful cataract surger...
